About the event

This event is open to all but does not form part of the overall individual competition. Those in the team competition need to complete the relay with their designated team.

Minimum age for senior Festival - 16 on day of first race. The relay sees the junior festival join up with the senior with races for all ages in the same location.

The relay takes place over the grassland and paths of the Common and is suitable for short spikes or racing flats. Each runner completes the same 1 mile loop featuring twists, turns and climbs.

Teams may be men, women or mixed (prizes are available in all categories) and any athletes taking part in the Festival without a team can be allocated a composite team if they so wish.

Teams are also welcomed from outside the main Festival – corporate, social or other sports are invited to take up the challenge of this fast and furious undulating lap that more than holds its own against the well established Interfirms Town relay in the summer – all for the bargain price of £20 per team. Entries should be made in advance of Saturday night either at the registration evening or to the entries desk at preceding races.

START: 10:30am

L’ancresse East/Tower No. 5

ENTRIES/NUMBERS:

Numbers will be distributed on Saturday evening (TBC) or at the entry desk on Sunday morning.

NB: No Guernsey Athletics team entries will be taken on the day.

PARKING:

Available at Tower No. 5, the car park adjacent to Rocque Balan, and Pembroke Bay (within warm up distance). Parking is at a premium for this event so local athletes are requested to share or cycle where possible. Anyone using the Stonecrusher car park further to the east is requested to take special care of athletes in this area and advised that entry/exit may be delayed whilst the event is in progress. Both the car park and the access road cross the course.

Public toilets are available at Pembroke Bay.

SPECTATING:

The course is a figure of 8 with all points within walking distance of the start/finish area, which itself boasts some of the best spectator vantage points.

5k: £18/20; Full Course: £15/17; Relay: £5/£5; 10k: £23/£25
