COVID-19 INFORMATION

17/03/2020 Guernsey Athletics Club confirm the cancellation of the Easter Running Festival 2020.

As always, the health and safety of all the participants – runners, officials, marshals and other support services – are at the forefront of our minds when organising such an event.

We are all by now aware of the rapidly changing COVID-19 situation and in light of the measures being put in place to respond to it and concern for all involved, the Guernsey Athletics Club has made the decision to cancel the 2020 edition of the Easter Running Festival.

Competitors who have already entered can claim either a deferral to next year’s event or a refund by following the instructions on the website www.guernseyeasterrunning.com. No further entries will be taken.

We are grateful to everyone who has given their time and support for the Festival in these uncertain times to this point. We hope to see you all next year.

Louise Perrio

Endurance Director, Guernsey Athletics Club

We continue to reiterate the general advice to contain the virus in terms of general hygiene and self-isolation, which can also be found at www.gov.gg/coronavirus (Guernsey) or for the UK here.

13/03/2020 ATTENTION ALL TRAVELLING COMPETITORS:

Message from the Race Director and Guernsey Athletics Club

Updated local Covid-19 guidance has been issued by the States of Guernsey Director of Public Health, Dr Nicola Brink, on 12 March 2020, encouraging Guernsey residents to consider avoiding all non-essential travel to and from the Bailiwick. Full details can be seen here www.gov.gg/coronavirus

Mindful of the developing situation and to assist with the containment of the virus, we confirm that any visiting athletes who no longer wish to travel to this year’s Festival may request deferred entry to next year’s Festival or a refund.

To do so please email guernseyathletics1@gmail.com clearly stating your name, whether you would prefer a deferral or a refund and attaching your entry confirmation. We will then arrange as appropriate.

We would also like to take this opportunity to reiterate the general advice to contain the virus in terms of general hygiene and self-isolation, which can also be found at www.gov.gg/coronavirus (Guernsey) or for the UK here.

Furthermore, participants are reminded that, even under normal circumstances,  anyone who feels unwell for any reason should not take part in a race.

This page will be updated as further developments occur.
